5 Reasons To Go To Salt Spring Island

It was my birthday this following weekend, and as we have done for the last couple of years, we've decided to visit the small, beautiful island of Salt Spring. This time, however, we decided to bring the kids! It was our first trip together as a family of 4! :)

If you ever come to BC, I highly suggest you check out this wonderful island.

Here are 5 reasons you should go, especially in the Fall:

1. The Apple Festival:

This is the reason we decided to go, and lucky enough it always lands on the weekend of my birthday!

What is the Apple Festival? There are many farms who grow up to 300 different fruit trees on the island! We go to a bunch of the farms and try out different apple goodies like apple cider, apple butter, and even get to taste all of the different apples they have! It's crazy how different each on of them tastes!

So many apples!

2. Cheese Farm!

The Salt Spring Island Cheese Farm is AMAZING! You get to try all of the different cheeses, and get to see how they make it! Meeting the goats and the chickens is a plus too! 

3. All of the local craft beers and ciders to try!

We visited Salt Spring Wild Cider and tried a flight of their special blends! My favourite one had to be the Bitter Orange Rosemary. :) We also got a cheese plate to try which was delicious!

4. The best toy store ever!

This is my son's favourite place to go when we're on Salt Spring! We always buy these miniature dinosaurs who he seems to always name Timmy :D

5. Really cool Airbnb's to stay at!

We stayed at a what you would say is the definition of a tiny house. We stayed at the Swallows Nest Guest House. It has a bathtub, kitchenette, a bed and a hide-a-bed all in the same room! It was kind of neat, and was the perfect size for our little family. :)
